The grey and white tabby named Winston is seen pressing his paw on the doorbell at his home in Sitka, Alaska, on December 7. 

The Ring doorbell videos Winston perched on a wooden porch railing outside the front door, waiting patiently in the dark for his owner Jamie Dunn. 

The 27-second clip shows Winston curiously taking in his surroundings as he waits on the wooden railings. 

Suddenly Winston is startled by the light on the doorbell as Jamie comes to the door. 

The wide-eyed cat turns his head towards the doorbell as Jamie reassures him through the intercom, saying: 'Winston I am coming to get you.'

The emergency medical technician revealed she was 'definitely surprised' when she found out Winston had learned to press the doorbell instead of using a cat flap. 

Jamie posted the video to the Ring Doorbell Users Group on Facebook captioned: 'My cat has learned to ring the doorbell when he wants in the house.' 

She said: 'We aren't sure how long he's been using the doorbell but I was definitely surprised he used the doorbell.'  

Cat lovers on Facebook commented on Winston's ingenuity.

Another penned: 'I have three cats they have learned that when the spotlight comes on that I'll open door to let them in.'
