Republican Senator Rand Paul asked Moderna CEO Stéphane Bancel if he believed there was a conflict of interest for the government employees who are making money off of the COVID vaccine to also be dictating the policy about how many times people have to take the vaccine. Bancel said the payment was made for another patent. Bancel said that for males, ages 16-24, who take Moderna's COVID vaccine, their risk of myocarditis was lower than those who contracted COVID. Senator Paul said that that was false and he entered six peer-reviewed papers into the record that show the opposite is true. Paul said that 90% of the cases of myocarditis in young males appears after the second dose of Moderna's COVID vaccine, yet the company recommends booster shots.
