The US is rather unique in the history of the world in that military grade weaponry and gear is widely available to the average citizen.  In some cases the VERY SAME gear the military has we also have access to.  While many national armies around the world have considerable firepower in the form of armored vehicles, aircraft, naval forces, missiles, drones, etc., nothing quite compares to a population of tens of millions of well armed citizens who also have thousands of rounds of ammo per person, night vision, thermal vision, their own drones, and the finances to accumulate all of these things into a minute-man type arsenal. 

Any standard military would be quickly overwhelmed.
