This Gym Offers Napping Classes For Exhausted Adults, Members Pay Per Hour

Adults are always on-the-go in today's busy world, meaning that they rarely get the recommended 7-9 hours of sleep per night. To remedy this conundrum, a "Nap-Ercise" class has been implemented in a UK Gym to help individuals 21 and older catch up on essential Zzz's.

Mashable reports that the 60-minute class is offered at David Lloyd Clubs and begins and finishes with a series of tension-releasing stretches. The stretching portion of the "workout" lasts approximately fifteen minutes, which means members who participate get a full 45 minutes of uninterrupted sleep at an ideal temperature. Each participant is provided with their own bed, blanket and eye mask.

The class is intended to "reinvigorate the mind, improve moods, and even burn the odd calorie," though one shouldn't expect sleep to equate to a thirty to forty-minute medium-intensity workout. Regardless, it's an appealing offer for those who feel as if they can't catch up on restorative slumber.

The concept is based off a study which was conducted by the Allegheny College in Pennsylvania. Study participants that took a 45-minute nap in the middle of the day handled stress better than those who didn't receive shut-eye. Another study from UC Berkeley also found that an afternoon nap can help boost the brain's learning capacity.

The "Nap-Ercise" is presently in trial-mode and classes will be held this weekend at the David Lloyd location in Sidcup. If the concept proves to be successful, the gym might include the class in a membership cost in the other clubs across the UK. Learn more here
