The "Super Saturday Blizzard" has buried the Virginias in up to 2 feet of snow and is heading up Interstate 95 through New York City, reaching Boston tonight.

Areas in the heart of the storm, forward through tonight are in for heavy snowfall, 40- to 60-mph wind gusts, nasty cold, whiteouts and massive drifts.

Officials report there have been 1,800 crashes and disabled vehicles in Virginia alone as of the mid-afternoon Saturday. Three people have died in storm related incidents in the state. Portions of I-95 and I-495 have been closed.

Snowfall rates of up to 3 inches per hour will shift slowly northward from northern Maryland to southern New England through tonight with the strengthening storm, closing roads and stranding motorists.
