The cause of the crash is not particularly hard to fathom. According to the media (OK not reliable) the single engine plane had 17!!!! passengers in it flying for a ski vacation (therefor loaded with gear). The plane was becoming harder to fly threatening to stall so the pilot requested a diversion to Butte. Upon making his approach to the airfield he lowered his speed as he normally would do and did not compensate for the already stall threatening plane. BOOM:: nose first into a cemetery 500 yards short of the runway.
