Letters to the Editor • Steven Anderson - Checkpoint Arrest

Why You Are In FBI Watch List

Elected and appointed officials run the Government. You may be disappointed for electing them to office and you start criticizing them, but you do not threatened to kill them.

You may call the Government dictatorial, intolerant, tyrant, and oppressor of your rights for reasons of your own. That is your freedom of speech. However, using unprintable words to express your anger and arming yourself with assault weapons as a self-proclaimed “Militia” ready to shoot anyone at your gun sight, you declared a “war” against the Government. That is not liberty and freedom enshrined in the Constitution. That’s your distorted interpretation of liberty and freedom to kill and destroy as you please.

In all instances I have just cited as examples, you are by law a TERRORIST.

That’s how you get into the FBI Watch List.

During the first week of February this year, the FBI issued a warning on the growing threat of anti-Government extremists. The warning zeroed in on a group of local “terrorists” who called themselves “sovereign citizens”. The group consists of an estimated 100,000 individual membership residing in certain blacklisted States.

According to the FBI, this assemblage of State people believes “they can live outside any type of government authority” and therefore they owe no allegiance to the Federal Government. They do not consider themselves as citizens of the United States, but citizens of the State where they live. That again is a twisted interpretation of U.S. citizenship as an excuse to declare a private war against the Government. That’s another way of getting into the FBI Watch List.

When these people criticized the Government as having no authority over them to enforce the law, they then believed they could defy the law at will. And shooting law enforcement officers to death, is a violent demonstration of how they defy the law.

That’s how their names appeared in the FBI Watch List with a Red Flag, which in intelligence parlance, means “extremely dangerous”.

At this point, it is clear that those agents of terror did not get the attention of the FBI merely because they spitefully criticized the Government. Getting into the FBI Watch List without a Red Flag is, however, the general rule rather than the exception. On record, this group of extremists “…may refuse to pay taxes, defy government environmental regulations and believe the United States went bankrupt by going off the gold standard …” [quote from the FBI report].

Consequently, record shows that they are as preoccupied with their “private war” with the Federal Government as the Red Flag extremists are. Even disobeying traffic rules is a defiance of law and order that demonstrates they could be as extremely dangerous as the Red Flag law violators.  In May 2010 a “sovereign citizen” shot and killed two police officers in West Memphis, Arkansas under the slightest provocation of being called to pull over in the traffic. That’s how a simple “sovereign citizen” can be as vicious at will as any hardened terrorist can be described to be any time of the day.

FBI: “Convictions of extremists, mostly for white-collar crimes such as fraud, have increased from 10 in 2009 to 18 each in 2010 and 2011.” The FBI’s Terrorist Screening Center [TSC] processes and evaluates “up to 1200 pieces of information” every day.

“Conviction” of extremists is rather slow. That means in this intelligence gathering process, nothing is left to be desired.  It has to be meticulous, careful and thorough.  On border line, no one gets into the list unless the suspect “meets a standard of ‘reasonable suspicion’ after review by the TSC and several other government agencies.” This proved to be a difficult task.

Even though how thorough is the screening process applied, the likelihood of committing an error is never discounted. An innocent name could be inadvertently included. Even though there is a STANDARD of reasonable suspicion, still it is a SUSPCION. However, the accusation of innocent name being included on the list ON PURPOSE, may not be absolutely zero [no one is perfect], but EXTREMELY nil. For example, the purpose of a vengeful FBI agent to get an innocent man’s name included, can be hardly the unanimous purpose of ALL the other agents in the TSC in all DIFFERENT GOVERNMENT AGENCIES that do the screening.

Still, even though this is almost impossible, the Government does not deprive an innocent man the opportunity to request that his name should be pulled out from the list. The Government created a website called Traveler Redress Inquiry Program that reviews this request. If upon a thorough investigation an error is established, the name is readily taken out of the list.

The damage done under this “error” could be the weakness of the remedy provided. But for that error to occur is very unlikely.  I suspect that having cleared of the stigma of being included in the FBI Watch List by ERROR [which is unlikely] is more than a reward. Chad Kolton, spokesman of TSC recently disclosed to the public that most if not all of those who filed a request to clear their name, are actually NOT in the list. Because of what they are doing [criticizing the Government] they thought their names are in the FBI Watch List.

It is not only a shameful but also a regrettable mistake when you imagine that the Government is a headless monster [thoughtless and reckless] hiding under your bed ready to jump on you.  Just what I said … criticizing the Government is freedom of expression, so long as you don’t get out of bound or abuse that freedom of speech.

On the contrary, the “request” is being used as a propaganda line. Prone to use this “request” as an anti-Government line of attack are those whose insuperable anger towards the Government is so intense it proved to be uncontrollable. The National Institute of Health identified this rage as a form of “mental illness”.

Fortunately, psychotic minds using this aggression towards the Government are easy to deal with. They almost automatically go directly into the FBI Watch List. The FBI wastes no time in segregating them as some kind of dangerous “animals” in the Zoo.

For example, a convicted tax felon is all over the Web selling his writings against law enforcement officers, the IRS and the Government. You probably already knew his name and had come across his writings, as well as I do. His name is Larken Rose. He is exactly what the FBI described him to be – a dangerous “sovereign citizen”.  He has this notion that a “cop killer” is the “good guy”, and the “dead cop” is the “bad guy”.

“I said, more bluntly than many ‘gun rights’ folks do, that I want you, the public, to have the ability to kill government agents, both military and police.”  Larken Rose at http://stopthelie.com/larkens_latest.html.

I cite this example merely to show where the difficult task of the FBI to include the names of suspected and potential terrorists in the list is 100% easier than what it is perceived to be. This proves beyond reasonable that when you criticize the Government in the manner I have just described, your place in the FBI Watch List is more than just assured.

Most likely, you earned a red star-mark to boot. #

No, he said "guerrilla" -- not "gorilla". Maybe he meant "Guerena" -- the drug-trafficking ex-Marine killed by the SWAT Team in Pina County whom Gammill extolled as a "hero", not a "Hero in" dealer.

I think Gammill misused or mispelled the word "guerrillas". What he had in mind are jungle bullies -- "gorillas".

But Gammill is right when he said this: A terrorist threatens civilian targets with the supposed objective that the inconvenienced survivors will pressure their government to change. After 911, the pressured Government had changed. It passed Patriot Act, and now NDAA. But is Gammill aware of this change? Obviously not … not even a clue!

When people express things that they believe are true, they usually look inside themselves to see what it is that they believe. Have you ever noticed the crowd of commenters who are constantly writing the words "ANGER" and "HATRED?" They're probably angry that nobody would ever even think of electing them President. They are probably hateful towards themselves and their COMRADES more than anybody, for not being electable.

Are you saying that Gammill is in the FBI Watch List?  Darn me!

Heh, he, he … thanks Brutos for "educating" our "Editor"in such very kind-hearted and accommodating way. You are tremendously knowledgeable! What surprises me is that this time Gammill is not "dirty" in his use of words to embarrass you – his best qualification as "Editor". He usually goes dirty when he "lectures" anyone who opposes his opinion, or when he angrily "murders" the Government in his usual manner. He does not use reason, just rage, when he hammers anyone or anything, depending on what is his mood for the day.

Powell Gammill CANNOT distinguish the difference between a GUERRILLA and a TERRORIST. He does not even have any clue as to why both kill and destroy for a different reason.

Because I know the difference like I knew the back of my palm, I feel obligated to educate Gamill.

Guerrillas are politically motivated. They organized themselves into a paramilitary group or unit whose objective is to overthrow the Government. They normally operate in the jungle [jungle guerrillas]. Seldom do they operate in towns, city or in the urban areas [Urban Guerrillas, as in Latin America] to "harass and carry out sabotage, etc.", to pressure the Government to capitulate to their demands. Guerrillas are rebels.

Gammill erroneously believes Terrorists are driven to kill and destroy to overthrow the Government. That’s a despicable ignorance. Had he gone to school to get an education on this matter, he would have learned that terrorists take lives out of insuperable HATRED and ANGER because they felt persecuted or victimized by their "enemy", real or imagined.

A good number of terrorists that are here in the United States came from the Middle East otherwise known in their country as Islamic Fundamentalists. Given the opportunity to commit violence and murder, they would cut Gamill’s throat without any hesitation. Unlike the Guerrilla, the Terrorist never intends to overthrow and takeover the Government; Terrorists are FANATICS, Guerrillas are REBELS, like Mao’s Jungle Guerrillas that finally took over the entire Chinese Government.

Terrorists could be spiritually or religiously motivated to "kill the Infidel" or are just "mentally ill" according to the National Institute of Health who would kill out of uncontrollable rage; that’s because hate consumes every inch of their being, i.e., Jared Loughner, Timothy McVeigh, Theodore John "Ted" Kaczynski, the "Unabomber" and their kind.

You do not need to be a "UN Ambassador" to know this difference, unless you are ignorant or poorly educated.

The fact that Powell Gammil is an "Editor", his inability to make the distinction that I have just handed to him makes me cringe. That incompetence speaks louder than words.

If he gets fired for such gross incompetence, PureTrust should take over. PureTrust knows the meaning of a thousand words, like "terrorist", "guerrilla", "Government" so forth and so on, more than Gammill could ever imagine!

Theodore John "Ted" Kaczynski, the "Unabomber" and their kind.

Actually only to the government is a person who threatens the government a terrorist.  Anywhere else that is a guerrilla.  A terrorist threatens civilian targets with the supposed objective that the inconvenienced survivors will pressure their government to change.  Pretty much this is what governments do to civilian targets.  A guerrilla on the other hand tries to extract a steep price from government and their supporters and lackeys.  They too rarely succeed.  But I would have thought an award winning journalist who was an ambassador to the UN would know that distinction...hummmm, maybe not.

You are right – I don’t see this writing in the front page. The front page appears to have been congested with Ron Paul headline trafficking. Reading a loser over and over again is boring! This letter-to-the-editor could have made the dry front page more bearable to read

BrutosEctos, congrats for a well-written piece. I wonder why this does not appear in the front page. This is a "juicy" editorial report that could have otherwise made the unbearable, dry front page more tolerable!

Speaking of birds that flew out of a cuckoo's nest, I am sure in this website, the FBI will have plenty of birds to catch. I recommend to look for them in this page --their nesting place. But the FBI raiders must cover their nose. A lot of bad air is coming out of badmouths!

I notice that to get rid of terrorists is America's new war.  Ideological terrorists can be defeated by counterintelligence, counterpropaganda and preemptive arrest.  But how could the FBI get rid of a terrorist who became one due to "mental illness"?

FBI couldn't send them to Guantanamo and subject them to waterboarding. FBI could interrogate them inside the mental asylum either. In a figure of speech, you can't catch a bird that flew out of a cuckoo nest.

Anderson tried to be tough, but he didn't prove anything except his stupidity. Law enforcement officers have to be tough -- that's what they need to deal with thugs. But to appear more tough than the police officers when you decide to challenge their authority on the spot, is plain insanity. You get a bump on the head, at least ... well, much better than a trip to the hospital or a drop inside the box six feet below the ground.
