It's darn nice knowing and getting to work with a man who thinks just like our Founding Fathers - Ernie, just what time machine did you take to get here?

When there are disturbing questions about how to fix the perplexing problems of today - the Founding Father's answers, particularly those prophetic Anti-Federalists, are once AGAIN the only lasting, timeless solution to those problems….

Liberty!

And Ernie here once again describes this, in a thoroughly modern form, deliciously and precise. Thanks Hancock!

Thank you for bringing this story to our attention.

Regrettably, the government school systems as well as many of the non-government schools totally fail to teach the fundamentals of the free market, private property based economic system.

So, when a group of socialist teachers "rebel" by outlawing Legos in their classrooms as an object lesson about property, they are just icing their own cake. The students aren't going to be reprogrammed with socialist ideas; there is no "programming" of free market, private property ideas to begin with.

Our outrage ought not be directed against these socialist teachers, but against the thousands of schools who have failed to provide accurate education in the first place.

To single out and criticize the socialist school is to play directly into their hands. By focusing our displeasure on this socialist school, we are implicitly approving the status quo in the supposedly non-socialist schools. The fact is, the status quo is already statist and certainly not free market oriented. The socialist school issue thus distracts our activism and works in favor of the statists.

Pretty clever, these folks of the socialist Left.

T Stevens, Phoenix

The easy way to beat the stupid law.
If you want to allow your customers to smoke
simply hold church services in your bar.
Let the cops suck on that lemon.

Within this article you will find a plug for the coming "Atlas Shrugged" movie. Ayn Rand wrote from the standpoint of complete selfishness. Most Christians will say that she was wrong - that selfishness is wrong. Please consider the second of the two greatest commands of the Law of God. Jesus says this command is, "Love your neighbor as yourself." When you consider the last 2 words of that little command, you find that selfishness is a prerequisite for selflessness.

For those of you that are Christian... Doesn't Jesus Himself say that everything that is hidden will be brought into the open? And everything that you try to make secret, won't it be shouted from the rooftops? Inevitability?

Americans have not lost their freedom. If anything, they have given it up through ignorance. The only people with whom the United States may have authority to destroy the Bill of Rights, is with those under certain kinds of contract, agreement or quasi-contract/agreement with the United States – Social Security, Armed Forces, Postal, etc. State republic Citizens, living on the land within the territorial borders of said state republic, are under no such loss of rights if there are no other agreements with the U.S.

Of course, the court will rule that the CIA is immune from torture law suits. The CIA is an artificial entity, and the most you can do against an artificial entity is shut it down. And if you try to get at CIA agents by law suit, well, the courts won't let you so attack them. Instead, the courts make sure you are attacking a fiction entity – not the human being that deserves punishment. In the same way, find out that you are never attacked by the courts, except when you agree to their attack by expressing that you are the one so named in their attack against an artificial entity with a name and address that looks exactly like yours.

This is true. But it has actually been coming for decades. It didn't start with Bush. It actually started around 1850, if not before.

See http://www.alicelillieandher.blogspot.com .

I will be posting a new essay in a couple of months.

I was back in Philly before Christmas eating breakfast in Dennys. A soldier home on leave told me about the EFP's. He said they take a shaped charge stack these copper plates on it, cover them in epoxy and before the epoxy dries roll them in dirt for camoflage.

The copper superheats and turns into a molten plasma type substance that will penetrate anything.

He didn't mention anything about Iranians though.

I did hear implications over a year ago that the shaped charges themselves were coming from Iran ... that was of course also disputed.

Washington isn't going to extradite the spies accused of kidnapping an Italian citizen? Well duh! No gang ever gives up its homies! Hey wouldn't it be ironic if the French secret service kidnapped the accused spies and "extraordinarily renditioned" them to Rome to face charges?

Double Amen ... says the choir :-)

A big problem as I see it is the continued practice of politicians leading people to believe they can have these government provided or subsidized services for free.

Between money printing, borrowing and slight of hand accounting coupled with coercive tax collection methods (witholding) the proposals for spending are rarely presented to the taxpayer as an invoice. The service is decoupled from the cost.

Emotional do-goodism is often replaced by fiscal prudence when folks are asked to pay when services are rendered.

If I hear one more politician say "the question is not can we afford to fund (insert program name here) ... the question is can we afford NOT to" ... I am going to puke ... again. ;-)

As a young believer, I visited Falwell's 'Liberty' University in 1987 and put up some Bush-Sr. actual abortion-voting-record flyers up during the 1988 campaign. Bush Sr., the least conservative of 4 candidates was endorsed by Falwell. To hide these truths, Falwell's university took those red abortion-record flyers down within about 15 minutes after posting them throughout the campus's free-speech boards.

This totally-unpredicted religious cover-up of accurate information – first shocked me, then opened up my naive eyes in 1987. Your 2008 examples repeat this. Falwell should be called out publicly for his intentional manipulation of this country by leaving out conservative Ron Paul in a major publication – After 1987, I know he does it intentionally. Jerry Falwell loves power and the powerful more than right. As far as I am concerned - He and other evangelical leaders want to be our de facto God on this earth, rather than the real one.

Jerry resign. Your "Majority" obviously is not "Moral".

The libertarianism that was the foundation of the Libertarian Party was sacrificed on the altar of "pick me, pick me". This was very much the case during the 80's when Melinda was inside watching as the wife of a man very much involved in the erosion. I'm glad to hear that she is writing a book about here experiences. It will fill in many holes that will help newbies understand what happened and why with the libertarian movement as a political party,... and how politics bring out the worst sort of people. I also hope it is instructive on the traits to look for so that informed choices can be made, because history is repeating itself.

Frosty is very knowledgeable on his writings and should not be considered an alarmist by any means. It is unfortunate for those who do not suscribe to any of the "newsletters" that he is published in. We would be guaranteed a totally new and diffrent administration and Congress if his writings could reach 60% of Americans rather than perhaps 20%.
Continue to continue,Sir!

My grand nephew, who is serving aboard the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier, says they are scheduled to go to the Arabian Gulf to join the USS Eisenhower and the USS John C. Stennis soon. Appears like the buildup of firepower is going to become greater than even this article makes it sound. I guess the logic is if two carriers are good, three carrier groups will be even more impressive to the Iranians. It will be interesting to see how this all turns out: Iran plays "Let's make a Deal!", or we get to see the beginning of WWIII.

You think the Supreme Court allows the police to violate the laws of the state they operate in, to build checkpoints? Could you cite your source? Here's mine:

ARS 28-909C: A peace officer shall not stop or issue a citation to a person operating a motor vehicle on a highway in this state for a violation of this section unless the peace officer has reasonable cause to believe there is another alleged violation of a motor vehicle law of this state."

It's amazing that police state checkpoints make you feel "safe". Get a sense of perspective, man..... Seat belts aren't worth our freedom!

This is one to make. Stu can definitely chill you to the bone with tales of what the government can do to invade your privacy surreptitiously, right now!

Don't even let him discuss the immediate future. But he can supply helpful tips to thwart the state.

The Supreme Court of this country only explicitly allows for sobriety checkpoints when conducted by officers with limited onscene discretion and under the auspices of department level checkpoint guidelines which clearly define the scope of the operation and the method that will be used to carry out sobriety checks.

The Supreme Court has never upheld suspicionless general purpose law enforcement checkpoints that aren't tied directly to issues of immediate public safety.

Impaired drivers represent an immediate danger to public safety because their actions not only endanger themselves but endanger others as well. Individuals not wearing seatbelts DO NOT represent a danger to anyone else - hence there's no public safety issue at play.

'The Man' may want to brush up on his Supreme Court jurisprudence along with State law before spouting off on topics he's clearly confused about.

This is a smart move. Paul represents no threat to the LP. Or their candidates. In fact, he can draw attention to their campaign positions since most should be his own. And after the Republican primaries are over and Paul is gone, whomever the LP candidate that emerges can continue to carry the banner.

The Border Patrol testified in 1976 in the U.S. Supreme Court case, UNITED STATES v. MARTINEZ-FUERTE, that there were approximately 12 million illegal aliens in the country at that time. This was during a time frame when there were only about 1,000 Border Patrol agents.

Since that time, over 30 years have past, the number of agents has gone up by a factor of ten, funding has increased enormously for Border enforcement, and technology has vastly increased the ability of the Border Patrol to monitor the border.

Nonetheless, you indicate there are still somewhere between 12 million and 20 million illegal aliens in the country.

As such, your premise seems to be wrong. Bush hasn't been responsible for a vast increase in the number of illegal aliens in the country. It's been this way for decades despite throwing more and more resources and man-power at the problem.

There's a definition for insanity that goes something like this - 'Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result...'

Now there's some food for thought!
