SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk are opening a Montessori-style school program in Bastrop this fall, according to the school's website.

What is Ad Astra school

Ad Astra, which means "to the stars," is a nonprofit school with a focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The school will open to children ages 3-9 and is accepting applications for the 2024-25 school year, which plans to start in September.

According to Forbes, Musk co-founded the school with Joshua Dahn in 2014 to primarily serve Musk's children and the children of SpaceX employees. The school was in SpaceX's headquarters in Hawthorne, Calif.
