The five best (and worst) states for job hunters: California and New York have fewest vacancies...

• https://www.dailymail.co.uk, By Sophie Mann

Unemployment in the US remains low overall at 3.5 percent, with 5.8 million people seeking work. Indeed, there were only around 75 workers for every 100 available roles in July, according to the US Chamber of Commerce.

But the same is not true in every state. Some have much more competitive jobs markets, making it harder to find work, and many industries, such as tech, have announced widespread layoffs.

The good news is that all states have more jobs available now than they did before the pandemic.

Georgia recorded the biggest rise in vacancies, in part due to the expansion of the state's business culture, which was jumpstarted when Governor Brian Kemp chose not to shutter businesses during Covid. However, more populated states such as New York and California, on the other hand, have seen far smaller increases.
