How to Make the Most of Harvest Time During the Food Crisis

• Organic Prepper - Marie Howthorne

We talk a lot about food production here at the OP. We just recently started offering a collection of our articles on food growing, preservations, and storage. Between widespread crop failures, the bizarre string of fires at food processing facilities, and farm business-killing dictates in traditionally food-exporting countries like Canada and the Netherlands, the global food system does not look particularly robust right now.

I don't know whether or not this is all coincidence, but it's beside the point. Even the USDA is predicting large price increases for many foods through the rest of 2022 and into 2023. Stockpiles of food will only last so long; we need to know how to produce at least some on our own. Or have a direct, working relationship with people that do.

Based on my own experience, I can say that even nominal self-sufficiency is both harder and more rewarding than people predict.
