Secret Service take two men into custody in D.C and seize 'body armor and assault rifle':

Secret Service police have arrested two men after they were seen 'acting suspiciously' in Washington DC's upscale Georgetown neighborhood, and officers found weapons and body armor in their car.  

Video footage shows more than a half dozen U.S. Secret Service officers, who are tasked with protecting politicians and their families, searching through a black four-door Ford sedan with Indiana plates that said Marine Corps Veteran. It is unclear if the vehicle belongs to the suspects.

Officials removed what appeared to be an assault-style rifle and body armor components from the vehicle. One suspect was arrested for possession of a prohibited weapon, carrying a dangerous weapon, unlawful transportation of a firearm, unregistered ammunition, unregistered firearm and carrying a firearm without a license, police confirmed to DailyMail.com.

The other was taken into custody for possession of a prohibited weapon and carrying a dangerous weapon.

The suspects have been taken to the Metropolitan Police Department's second district precinct for processing. Their identities have not been released. 

Georgetown is home to DC's prime real estate, with House Speaker House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and former Secretaries of State John Kerry and Madeleine Albright living in the area.   

More than a half dozen U.S. Secret Service officers responded to the 1000 block of Wisconsin Avenue NW block Thursday morning around 9.10am.

Witnesses said the suspects were handcuffed and separated, before at being taken away in a Secret Service van. 

One of the suspects wore tan pants and a black hoodie, while the other wore a camouflage-style jacket and a baseball cap.
