Gov. Newsom announced new safety guidelines earlier this month for all private gatherings just as Californians were gearing up for the Thanksgiving holiday

Gatherings must include no more than three households, be held outdoors, last no longer than two hours and guests can only go inside to use the restroom

Masks can only be taken off to eat and drink, guests must be sat six feet apart and singing, shouting and chanting are 'strongly discouraged'

The rules come as cases are surging once again in the state with a 3.3 percent positivity rate and seven-day average case count of 4,325 per day
