'World's oldest human' who outlived four wives, 10 siblings and all of his children dies

An Indonesian man who claimed to be the world's oldest human at 146 years old has died, his family say.

Mbah Gotho, a great-great granddad from Central Java, outlived his four wives, 10 siblings and all of his children.

He was reportedly hospitalised on April 12, but insisted on checking out six days later so he could be taken home.

He died shortly after, having "refused" to eat or drink.

Mbah hit the headlines last year after presenting documentation showing he was born in December 1870.

Remarkably, the "heavy smoker's" papers were recognised by Indonesian officials, who claimed they were valid.

If correct, he would have lived significantly longer than the verified oldest person in the world ever - Jeanne Calment.
