This Canadian Store Is Giving Away 2 Acres Of Land To Anyone Willing To Work There

Two acres of land isn't a lot to live on, but it's enough to start a new life with in Canada. Two sisters, Sandee MacLean and Heather Coulombe, are well aware of this, which is why they recently sent out a unique offer to acquire new employees.

Earlier this year, the sisters were left with the family business which was started nearly 25 years ago. Eager to expand the offerings of the Farmer's Daughter, they started posting 'help wanted' ads around Whycocomaugh, N.S., which has a population of 800. Unfortunately, there was little response.

Because the family owns 200 acres of woodland that isn't being used, they decided to offer two acres of land for free to anyone who will work with the company for a minimum of five years. The only expense will be to cover the legal costs to transfer the deed.

CBC News reports that within two days of posting the offer on Facebook, hundreds of inquiries began pouring into their inboxes. They only need to hire 3-4 more people, but already, over 350 emails and 500 Facebook messages have been received.

Said MacLean:

"The phone's been ringing off the hook. We have, I think, 350 emails in our email account and 500 and some messages on Facebook, all people wanting to come work for us."

The right candidate, she says, would be someone who enjoys all four seasons, is outdoorsy, and can appreciate the simple life.

"They would love the simpler life, they would love to have a job they can go to every day that's not stressful," she said. "And in the wintertime when it slows down, they get to have their off-time."

"We want people who can commit to Whycocomagh and grow the community," MacLean added.
