This doesn't really surprise me. I remember when Washington DC voted Marion Barry back in after his significant "troubles."

And though it doesn't surprise me that Bridgeport Connecticut reelected a guy who had gone to the clink for defrauding the city a decade before, it does still take me aback. How could a city put a guy like that back into office? How can someone justify pulling the lever for someone they know had lied and defrauded them? Who had been convicted of it.

No doubt the urban political machine is at work here. Politics is nasty, but urban politics has got to be the nastiest.
