California City Attorney Tries to Shut Down First Ever Cannabis Market

Organized by the California Heritage Market, the operation sold pot to card-carrying medical marijuana patients inside a warehouse behind the West Coast Collective dispensary, located within an industrial zone. While city officials did not publicly object to the market while it was running, City Attorney Mike Feuer has since requested a temporary restraining order to stop operations, alleging the market violates city land-use law and is causing a public nuisance. David Welch, the market's representative, said the city's latest move doesn't comply with Proposition D, a ballot measure passed last year describing the legal parameters for dispensaries to remain open..
