The Indiana Gazette reported Sunday that Freeport residents Phil and Jenn Thompkins are in the business of renting chickens out for the summer to those who aren't sure if backyard egg-raising is for them.

 

Jenn Thompkins said the idea came from watching friends struggle to learn how to raise chickens for their eggs. They provide a starter kit with two egg-laying hens, a wheeled coop, feed and a water dish.
