The regulation says that you have to be 12 years old to qualify for an adult transplant. That includes a lung transplant. And because older patients are statistically more likely to survive based on past experience, the State gets to decide whether you live or die. So sorry about that. Tell that to ten-year-old Sarah Murnaghnan who has end stage cystic fibrosis, and who will die in five weeks without one.
