Has Curiosity discovered rats on Mars?

• http://www.sciencerecorder.com, Alyssa Samson
In one of the locations know as the “Rocknest site” where the rover scooped up the same sand that was later tested by scientists, ScottCWaring, a writer on the blog UFO Sightings Daily, noticed a creature-like rock in one of the photographs. After careful observation, he alluded to the possibility of it being a rodent on Mars.

“Note its lighter color upper and lower eyelids, its nose and cheek areas, its ear, its front leg and stomach. Looks similar to a squirrel camouflaged in the stones and sand by its colors,” he wrote. “Hey, who doesn’t love squirrels, right?”

While many extraterrestrial life enthusiasts might have been up in arms over this finding, there was no official evidence to back this claim up. In fact, before people start to pack their bags for the next trip to Mars, the “rodent” turned out to be nothing more than a rock—a rock that resembled a rat.

Oh, blast! And we worked so hard to keep the area void of any life, so that all the photos would really look like what Mars certainly must look like.
