Ex-US commander McChrystal calls for reviving draft

• AFP
The former US commander in Afghanistan, Stanley McChrystal, has urged that the draft be reinstated to spread the burden of fighting and to instill a sense of shared civic duty among young Americans.

The country’s all-volunteer force has performed with great skill but after more than a decade of war “we’re running very, very hard and at a certain point you can’t expect it to go forever,” McChrystal said at a conference last month.

As a military man, this gink took a solemn oath to "defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic."

Now he wants to violate that oath.

The Thirteenth Amendment reads: " Neither slavery NOR INVOLUNTARY SERVITUDE, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction." (Emphasis mine.)

How can military conscription be seen as anything BUT involuntary servitude?

So . . . what's the crime? Having an eighteenth birthday?

As far as I'm concerned, he should have his military pension revoked and he should be exiled from the country -- at the very least.

Apparently, this man needs to be informed that most in this country are not willing to allow their sons and daughters to go into a military, that is killing hundreds of people (civilians) in numerous other countries every month all in the name of freedom and democracy.  Our Commander In Chief is a complete mystery for a man with 8 wars going and won the Nobel Peace Prize before ever entering the office of the Presidency.  I thought you had to do something to get that prize.  This was a backwards as Washington is today.

The draft was used for Vietnam.  What did this imbecil learn from Vietnam?  I have a brother who did two tours, came home and took himself out.  The draft?  REALLY?  Vietnam was such a raving success for the USA and our military, lets use stuff from that war, next Agent Orange courtesy of Monsanto?

HELLO?  NO MORE WAR - NO DRAFT NEEDED FOOL!

Maybe he should run for President!  Imagine all the votes he would get with just this idea alone!  I am disgusted with this man and his warped idea.
