My guess is that this is a hoax.  Nobody here has that DVD - we can't play it and verify that the person is actually in that scene.  Ever since Woody Allen's Zelig, it has been easy for Hollywood effects artists to add current people to old films.  I think it's a stunt.

She doesn't need a cell tower! If you have time travel, it would be built into the cell phone so that it would use a cell tower from a different time.

One interesting thing about time travel. It involves space travel as well. Why? Because the material that was in this exact space 10 minutes ago was simply empty space. After all, the Earth travels through its orbit around the sun. And the whole Solar System travels through space on its orbit in the Milky Way Galaxy. I mean, like a million miles a minute. Nothing stays in the same place, or even within proximity for more than a few seconds. So time travel would have to include the big space travel jump as well.

Let's forget the time jump and focus on the space jump. The moon. Mars.

As an aside - I mention this because I just dealt with an abcessed tooth (lower right molar) and had to walk around for hours with a heat-pack pressed on my jaw - a possible explaination of this phenomena.

And when the person turns, it does look like a man.... 

Pretty interesting.  No explanation.  One would think such a sight would be odd public behavior in 1928.

Even if it were a cell phone, who would she be calling?  Maybe someone on the other end of a cell tower set up in a worm hole that relays communications between the two ends of the worm hole?

No one else had a cell phone then or no other phone that could receive a call placed on a cell phone at that time.  So, she'd only have a "no network" message unless there were inter-time-dimensional communication ability as well.

Another theoretical problem with it... even if it were true, once you go back in time, you automatically create a new time line or, relativistically viewed, you enter a new timeline.

So, if it were true, then we are all existing now in that time travellers alternate timeline.
