Obama extends hospital visitation rights to same-sex partners of gays

• Washington Post
President Obama mandated Thursday that hospitals extend visitation rights to the partners of gay men and lesbians and allow same-sex couples to share medical power of attorney, perhaps the most significant step so far in his efforts to expand the rights of gay Americans.

This is based upon the tragic family squabbles that have occurred when a gay partner in a couple (relationship) can no longer care for themselves and their blood kin show up.

Terrible and unseemly.

But,where does Obama get off commanding obedience throughout the nation -- much less inside Wash. DC -- in the nation's medical care facilities?  And in the courts on inheritance and custodial care?

Government can't "expand rights" unless they've already taken them away in the first place!

Freedom of association and the freedom to enter into a contract are very basic, simple concepts. If one or both parties are not being coerced into "compliance," then WHY was the legal act endowed from the creator prohibited or restricted in the first place?

Oh. That's why. So they can pretend to do some good while further diluting the real issue and dividing the moral majority from their fellow gay and lesbian human beings, so that those who caused the original problem can be "praised" for solving it!
