Letters to the Editor • Gun Rights

Guns

From the late 1950\'s there has been a demand by politicians to limit guns in the United States.  The Clinton\'s were strong advocates of this, from limiting guns, ammo or powder..the basis was to protect the innocent from harm...

Today we seem to again be at a fevered pitch about what to do about gun rights, how it should be dealt with and who should be allowed to own guns....First let me again state that criminals do not buy legal guns, they steal them or buy them from someone who has stolen them, because criminals use guns and police protection is always after the fact, many people have decided they have to be able to protect them selves until the police come to protect the intruder!!!!!!  Women feel they need not the some spray when they are walking to their car in a parking garage or after work because of the number of attacks that mostly go unreported and when reported the attacker is not found until he has attacked six or eight other women.  Because of the ability of the police to protect, people have the real right to protect themselves and their property.

The government of any nation hates guns.  It limits them when they feel they need to control a population that is ready to throw them out.  Guns in the hands of citizens destroy the security they feel in running a country............

A gun is a tool...it limits a government, it slows crime, it protects a home owner...criminals hate citizens with guns as do political parties and politicians because it is a statement by the people that they allow the politicians to set in power at the citizens whim and if the government refuses to step down after an election the people have the ability and force to make them.  That is the main reason politicians hate guns, it keeps them in line......
