Bashing Hezbollah

Bashing Hezbollah

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

Leave it to the deplorable New York Times, bashing anyone and anything against America's imperial agenda.

Calling Hezbollah "Iran's Middle East Agent, Emissary, and Hammer" is typical of the daily rubbish it publishes.

The Times: "For three decades, Hezbollah maintained a singular focus as a Lebanese military group fighting Israel."

"It built a network of bunkers and tunnels near Lebanon's southern border, trained thousands of committed fighters to battle Israel's army and built up an arsenal of rockets capable of striking far across the Jewish state."

Hezbollah was founded as a national liberation movement following Israel's 1982 invasion and aggression against Lebanon. It's not a terrorist organization - a State Department falsely designated FTO in deference to Israel.

Hezbollah is a legitimate political and social organization. Its military wing is for self-defense, given the threat of further Israeli aggression.

It represents Lebanese Shias,40% of the population. It's highly respected for running a comprehensive network of schools, health facilities and other social services available to anyone in need, not just Shias.

It's unfairly called anti-Jewish, falsely accused of wanting to destroy Israel, the same canard used against Iran. Big Lies repeated enough get most people to believe them.

The Times: "Hezbollah is not just a power unto itself, but is one of the most important instruments in the drive for regional supremacy by its sponsor: Iran."

Rubbish! Iran seeks cooperative relations with all nations, dominance over none. It's a valued Hezbollah ally, not its sponsor.

The Times: "Hezbollah is involved in nearly every fight that matters to Iran and, more significantly, has helped recruit, train and arm an array of new militant groups that are also advancing Iran's agenda."

Hezbollah and Iran responsibly came to the aid of their Syrian ally, victim of US aggression, together with NATO, Israel and other rogue regional partners, using ISIS, al-Nusra and other terrorists as imperial foot soldiers.

The Times and other media scoundrels suppress what's most important to explain, supporting imperial viciousness over Syrian sovereignty and territorial integrity, the same support for all US aggressive wars.

The Times: "Hezbollah has evolved into a virtual arm of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, providing the connective tissue for the growing network of powerful militias."

Hezbollah is an elected part of Lebanon's government - beholden to its people and regional peace, against aggression by America, Israel or any other country. Iran is for and against the same things.

The Times: "…Tehran's rising influence has made both Iran and its allies a target, the focus of military and diplomatic action by Saudi Arabia, Israel and the United States, all of which consider Hezbollah a terrorist organization."

America is the undisputed leading global state terrorist. Regionally, Israel and Saudi Arabia hold that dubious distinction - the three countries comprising an axis of evil, together with their rogue partners in high crimes.

Iran, Hezbollah and Syria are polar opposite. So are Russia and China.

If these countries didn't resist US aggression, planet earth would be dominated by America's scourge.

Its aim is global tyranny, what's most important to prevent along with possible nuclear war.
