Poll Shows Most Democrats and Independents Oppose a 2020 Hillary White House Run

by Stephen Lendman

She's widely reviled. Most Americans consider her untrustworthy and dishonest, unfit for public service.

I called her the most ruthlessly dangerous presidential aspirant in US history, representing an unprecedented threat to world peace and stability.

It's hard imagining why anyone aware of her public record would support her - other than special interests she serves at the expense of ordinary Americans.

A December USA Today/Suffolk University poll released Wednesday showed 62% of Democrats and independents surveyed oppose her conducting another run for the White House.

Only 23% support the idea. Two-thirds of respondents favor "someone entirely new" as Democrat party standard bearer. Nearly 60% believe Trump will "significantly dismantle" Obama's legacy, evenly split on whether it's a good or bad idea.

Around 40% support Trump's ascension to power. About the same percentage opposes him. One fourth of respondents think he'll be a failed president, 12% think he'll be great, 18% good, 15% fair and 30% undecided.

Only 16% are excited about his becoming America's 45th president, 38% hopeful, another 38% alarmed.

Most respondents want him to do more to "prevent conflicts of interest between his business interests and the country's interests."

Most likely voters urge him to keep his pledge to be "the greatest jobs president that God ever created."

Their top priorities include jobs creation and protection, combating terrorism, and draining the swamp.

Half of respondents believe he should do whatever it takes to get the job done, even if it means breaching campaign promises, sure to come like always.

The December 14 -18 telephone poll of 1,000 likely voters nationwide has a plus or minus 3% margin of error.

A month ahead of Trump's taking office, the poll assessed pure guesswork opinions of what type president he'll be since he has no public record on which to judge him.
