Keith Ellison Next DNC Chairman?

Keith Ellison Next DNC Chairman?

by Stephen Lendman

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz's pro-Hillary bias ended her tenure as DNC chairman. Donna Brazile replaced her in an interim capacity.

The subject of her WikiLeaks email sent to Hillary's communications director Jennifer Palmieri was "(f)rom time to time I get (debate) questions in advance."

Sharing them with Hillary (through campaign chairman John Podesta) ahead of a primary debate with Sanders made her damaged goods.

Employed as a commentator for CNN, the news organization said "(w)e are completely uncomfortable with what we have learned about her interactions with the Clinton campaign while she was a CNN contributor."

In other words, she got caught red-handed, exposed. Otherwise it wouldn't have mattered.

Rep. Keith Ellison (D. MN), a congressional member since January 2007, is favored to succeed her. Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid endorsed him, saying "(m)y friend Keith Ellison is a terrific leader and a strong progressive who knows how to get things done." Reid's successor Chuck Schumer (D. NY) backs him.

He's the first Muslim congressional member - he and Rep. Andre Carson (D. IN) the only two among 535 House and Senate members.

Ellison co-chairs the so-called Congressional Progressive Caucus, along with serving as Chief Deputy Whip.

He's more regressive than progressive, more neocon than liberal - a Muslim supporting US Middle East aggression, imperial lawlessness by any standard, responsible for millions of deaths post-9/11 alone.

In 2011, he backed Obama's war on Libya, disgracefully calling Gaddafi a dictator, saying his triumph "would have been tragic for the people of Libya, and…dimmed hopes for greater freedom in the Middle East."

North Africa's most developed country was ravaged and destroyed, endless violence, chaos and human misery replacing it.

Ellison favors Washington declaring a no-fly zone over areas in Syria held by US-supported terrorists.

He backs America's right to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries to further its imperial interests, saying "I don't think the world's greatest superpower, the United States, can stand by and do nothing."

He's for endless imperial wars, disdaining peace and stability, wanting US-controlled puppets replacing independent leaders, likely to be next DNC head.

Will Trump challenge his reckless militancy? Will he pull back from instead of escalating Obama's wars? Will he be less belligerent than the Clintons, GW Bush and Obama?
