Election Day in America: Prelude to Doomsday?

Election Day in America: Prelude to Doomsday?

by Stephen Lendman

A likely Hillary victory should terrify everyone. Her extreme anti-Russia militancy puts nuclear war on the table as a US option - maybe ordering it during her first year in office as Paul Craig Roberts warns.

US relations with Russia under Putin are worse than any time since the Bolshevik revolution nearly 100 years ago, more dangerous than any time during the Cold War - certain to descend to new depths of darkness, tyranny, corporate favoritism, and preparedness for nuclear war under Hillary and neocon lunatics certain to infest her administration.

Edward Herman calls her "the most dangerous person living in the world today." I call her the most ruthlessly dangerous presidential aspirant in US history - about to become president-elect after polls close Thursday, barring America's greatest ever electoral surprise.

I vividly remember the October 1962 Cuban missile crisis. Had a neocon lunatic like Hillary been president, devastating nuclear war might have followed.

Thankfully, we had Jack Kennedy. In January 1961, he entered office a warrior leader, transformed himself into a peacemaker, wanted nuclear weapons abolished "before they abolish us."

He wanted a "general and complete disarmament," rapprochement with Soviet Russia, the Cold War ended, and all US forces out of Vietnam by December 1965.

He deplored "craz(ies)" urging war. During the height of the Cuban missile crisis, he "never had the slightest intention" of removing them by military force, he said.

America never had another leader like him. From inception, an array of warriors led the nation, from George Washington to George W. Bush, Obama and likely war goddess Hillary to follow - the nation at war at home and/or abroad every year in its history, the truest measure of a rogue state.

Had CIA dark forces not assassinated Kennedy, his brother Bobby and Martin Luther King, imagine how different America might have been - at least for a time, waging peace worldwide instead of endless wars of aggression against nonbelligerent countries threatening no one.

Today under Obama, with Hillary in the wings to succeed him, vicious anti-Russia propaganda exceeds the worse Cold War vitriol preceding it - America on a slippery slope toward nuclear war once she ascends to power as expected.

Months after Washington replaced Democrats with Nazi-infested putschists in Ukraine, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov commented, saying "(p)ardon us for our country's existence in the middle of your military bases."

"Washington has openly declared its right to use military force unilaterally and wherever it sees fit in order to protect its own interests."

"The Western alliance, led by the United States, while (claiming to defend) democracy and human rights, on the global arena assumes an opposite stance, disregarding the principle of the sovereign equality of states, as stipulated in the UN Charter, and trying to decide for others what is good and what is bad."

America consistently violates fundamental international, constitutional and US statute laws in pursuing its imperial agenda - virtually certain to reach dangerous levels of extremism with Hillary as president.

Changing of the guard occurs on January 20, 2017, a disquieting time for mourning, trepidation and alarm for what's likely ahead.

Bush/Cheney gave us state-sponsored 9/11 and war on humanity. Obama exceeded their extremism. Hillary may finish us off entirely. Tremble at what's likely coming with her in power.

On the eve of Britain's entry into WW I, UK Foreign Secretary Edward Grey remarked "(t)he lamps are going out all over Europe. We shall not see them lit again in our lifetime."

WW II began two decades later, followed by America's post-9/11 phony war on terrorism, a real war on humanity at home and abroad - raging endlessly, certain to escalate with Hillary in charge, maybe mushroom cloud denouement awaiting us all ahead with her finger on the nuclear trigger.
