RESOLUTION REGARDING WOMEN SERVING IN THE MILITARY

RESOLUTION
REGARDING WOMEN
SERVING IN THE MILITARY

Unregistered Baptist Fellowship
Indianapolis, Indiana
October 11-13, 2004

WHEREAS, the Biblical admonition is that women are always to be cared for and protected by their fathers, brothers, husbands, and sons. (I Peter 3:7, I Cor. 11:3)

AND WHEREAS, the Biblical admonition is for the men to go to war but the women "to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home". (Numbers 26, Titus 2:5)

AND WHEREAS, the Biblical admonition is for women to have a "meek and quiet    spirit" (I Peter 3:4), not the loud, boisterous and aggressive character necessary in a military environment.

AND WHEREAS, the Biblical admonition is that a woman is "not to teach nor to usurp authority over the man" (I Tim. 2:12) which is impossible in a military command setting.

AND WHEREAS, the Biblical admonition is a woman is not to "wear that which pertaineth to a man" (Deuteronomy 22:5) and is to "adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety"  (I Timothy 2:9), not a military uniform of pants, combat boots, and T-shirts.

AND WHEREAS, the Biblical admonition is to "abstain from all appearance of evil"    (I Thessalonians 5:22), not cohabiting with, sleeping in close proximity to, or working alone with men as the military requires.

AND WHEREAS, the Biblical admonition is that women are to be kept out of harms way, not in constant danger of sexual defilement by male soldiers either friendly or enemy;

AND WHEREAS, for women to be compelled into military service would cause the breakdown and breaking apart of their families with them being forced to abandon the raising of their children and thus also creating orphans by allowing both mothers and fathers to serve in the military.

THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED that the Pastors and laymen of the Unregistered Baptist Fellowship absolutely stands against the drafting or voluntary enlistment of women into military service.

The Unregistered Baptist Fellowship is not a Denomination that dictates any control over the local church.  This resolution is a suggested model for local churches to use and highly recommended that each local church pass this one or a similar one as soon as possible.
