Why must our leaders promote alternative energy like solar, wind and nuclear? According to the latest Hubbert Curve figures, we face imminent Peak Oil, in other words, our ability to extract oil peaks in 2010 and declines from there until it runs out by mid century. Unfortunately, the U.S. adds 3.1 million people annually and as the human race adds 77 million annually, something must give. For all our emotions and passion, alternative energy won’t cut it.

"... By 2015 these technologies could displace only the equivalent of 4 percent of projected U.S. annual consumption. Under these circumstances, an imminent peak and sharp decline in oil production could have severe consequences, including a worldwide recession.

In short, we face ominous realities for this civilization. No amount of alternative energy can or will replace the energy density of oil. Yet, leaders like U.S. Senator Mark Udall, Governor Bill Ritter, and as yet, little known Senator Michael Bennett of Colorado--do not fully grasp what we face. Udall, by his own words, said we can continue adding 1.2 million immigrants annually into the USA. He actually supported doubling legal immigration from 1.2 million to 2.4 million in 2007. Results: 100 million people added to the USA by 2035.

Ironically, those men endorse alternative energy, seemingly unaware they promote policies that negate any efforts for alternative energy to succeed. How’s that you ask? For every advancement of alternative energy, Colorado adds 100,000 people annually. For every breakthrough in conservation, another 100,000 people negate any chance for a viable solution. Demographic projections show Colorado adding five to six million people by mid century.

While they fiddle their fingers, here’s what we face:

“Without imports, the USA's domestic oil reserves would be exhausted in three years at the current rate of consumption. The Oil War option is losing favor. Technological breakthroughs will be too slow and voluntary conservation will be too shallow to avert widespread disruption of economic activity, especially transportation and consequently food. Lacking the political will to make conscious, rapid, drastic changes, Americans will be subjected to Mother Nature's adjustments; she did not negotiate with the Mayor of New Orleans; nor will She negotiate the American Way of Life when Saudi Arabia's Ghawar field collapses of its own accord.” www.oilcrisis.com

Journalist Vuong interviewed several experts, but he never asked the most important questions: “What other ideas or solutions might work?” “What about population stabilization?” “What about Colorado enacting a ‘sustainable population policy’”?

All the other experts work from a 20th century, outmoded and anachronistic models, i.e., unlimited growth, expansion, increase and development. It worked in the 20th century, but most certainly fails in this century. It actually failed in the last century, but ruptures in this era. Why the obvious deletion of critical thinking and thorough journalism? Why didn’t Vuong ask better questions?

Check with 21st century experts?

Could Mark Twain’s famous quote play out in this century as it did back in 1860? “Silent assertion is the shabbiest of all lies…when the media and leaders obfuscate, deny, suppress, cloud or ignore a social wrong or anything going badly in our society.”

It appears everyone vanishes from the discussion in order to escape the fact that hyper-population growth causes all our accelerating problems. You won’t hear a peep from Udall, Ritter, Hickenlooper, Bennett, Coffman, Degette or Obama. Why? Because mass immigration drives our population growth! Touchy! Delicate! Politically correct! As with this quote again, it won’t do anyone any good to be PC in the future because Nature will not be PC:

“Americans will be subjected to Mother Nature's adjustments; she did not negotiate with the Mayor of New Orleans; nor will She negotiate the American Way of Life when Saudi Arabia's Ghawar field collapses of its own accord.”
