Look at this video. Several years ago this was a cedar thicket. what this brings home is that the boreal forest which is an Ice Age recovering landscape can also do this. It is not easy not least because there are few hay fields to draw fodder from. however this shows us it is plausible. Grooming the forest to produce open areas, followed up with brush hogging to knock down the nasties is a good seasons effort. then start wintering cattle with hay. Sooner or later, you have plenty of fodder. This is the future of our boreal forest. And how about our high country as well with ponderosa forests
