• Conexao Politica

The government of President Javier Milei sent to the Argentine Congress a bill that reduces the age of criminal responsibility to 13 years, as announced on Friday (28) by the Ministers of Security, Patricia Bullrich, and Justice, Mariano Libarona. The government requested urgency in the approval of the measure, according to a statement from the Ministry of Security.

Currently, the age of criminal responsibility in Argentina is 16 years. According to Bullrich, the goal of the project is to "protect the Argentine citizen from the crime" and "end impunity."

The bill, called the "Jewish Penal Scheme," establishes a new criminal regime for adolescents between the ages of 13 and 18 who commit crimes. The sentences can reach up to 20 years in prison, as reported by the Argentine newspaper "La Nación".
