Snow-pocalypse slams California causing travel chaos with I-80 shut down to start the workweek...

• Daily Mail

A snowpocaylpse has raged on for the sixth day in California as the northern part of the state has been slammed with intense winds and snowfall that has caused travel headaches and left people snowed in to start the workweek.

Interstate-80 has shut down as Tahoe saw seven feet of snow while 190mph wind whipped through the Sierra Nevada valley.

Power outages have been reported in Truckee, Tahoe City and Zephyr Cove as trees have fallen onto power lines along Highway 89.

Ski resorts have closed as the high winds wreaked havoc on the mountains as the National Weather Service said a rare blizzard warning will remain in effect until midnight on Sunday for areas above 6,500ft of elevation.

Dozens of trucks were left stranded on I-80 as officials said that the highway might be re-opened on Monday if there is a 'break in the weather.'
