President Joe Biden nominated former Senate-confirmed attorney for the Northern District of Ohio Steve Dettelbach to head the ATF

Comes after he failed to get fun control advocate and former nominee David Chipman confirmed after he faced bipartisan opposition 

There has not been a Senate-confirmed ATF director in 16 years

Administration also announced a crackdown on 'ghost guns' and regulations on gun manufacturers and dealers on Monday to combat spiking crime    

The rule would require firearms dealers to run background checks before they sell ghost gun kits that contain the parts needed to assemble a firearm at home

The rule is also expected to change the definition of a firearm under federal law to include unfinished gun parts, which can be bought online
