"The Fourth Industrial Revolution" is a term popularized by World Economic Forum founder Klaus Schwab in 2015, eventually becoming the title of his 2017 book.

Schwab says the goal of the next industrial revolution is for humanity to endure "A fusion of our physical, our digital and our biological identities."
