Smoke up dudes! - Cannabis Prevents COVID Infection In Lab Study

• Dailywire.com

Two compounds found in cannabis prevented the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes COVID-19, from penetrating healthy cells in humans, according to a new report.

The two compounds in hemp — cannabigerolic acid, or CBGA, and cannabidiolic acid, or CBDA — "were identified during a chemical screening effort as having potential to combat coronavirus, researchers from Oregon State University said. In the study, they bound to spike proteins found on the virus and blocked a step the pathogen uses to infect people," according to a laboratory study published in the Journal of Nature Products, Fortune reported.

(Note from Chip) - By the way; only 3.5% of Jamaicans have caught COVID, while 19% of Americans have. Coincidence? Yeah, I didn't think so either.

Quite profound. Your knowledge of chemistry is formidable.

Just to be clear, most cannabis plants that are grown to the point of allowing the trichomes to produce thc won't have much cbga left in them... cannabigerolic acid is a precursor the plant manufactures on the metabolic pathway to make tetrahydrocannabinol-acid thca... cannabidiol-acid or cbda is however mostly completed production by most strains of cannabis when the plant is mature enough for harvest... There is also strains that produce cbga but they are rare, as most breeding occurs for thca, leaving cbda and other cannabinoids more at trace levels. Also, the act of heating the plant to smoke it decarboxylates the compounds removing the co2 molecules, changing from acid form to the forms we know and love... destroying the efficacy of the molecules for this purpose... would have to use in edibles to get the efficacy... hemps would be the best category for this intended use...
