The Modesto Bee reported that the school board "is aware that many parents have concerns about the safety of the COVID-19 vaccine and believes that parental choice regarding health decisions is absolutely essential." The California Department of Education responded by saying that districts that refuse to comply with Newsom's mandate will lose attendance-based funding if unvaccinated students are caught attending classes in person. California's Vaccine Mandate for students has already been pushed back to the beginning of the 2022 Fall semester by most of the districts in the state, and if the non-compliance continues, it will be difficult to enforce Newsom's order.
