It will be remembered on a level of 1492, 1776, 1849, and 2001, the years of Christopher Columbus, the Declaration of Independence, California's Gold Rush, the attacks of Sept. 11.

Yes, it has definitely been an extremely difficult year for so many people everywhere. And  I would bet that "Experience a pandemic" wasn't on any person's bucket list for 2020.

The year ahead surely holds both great hope and some heartache, no doubt, depending on what happens, but more so it depends on how we choose to deal with it.  I'm reminded here of the late great Stephen R. Covey, teacher, leader, and author of one of my favorite books, "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People," who emphasized that, "Between the stimulus and the response lies your success or failure." You alone choose your attitude.

For example, I choose to reject the craziness of the past nine months, and simply report a personal review of the situation in our society that has lasted through that brief period of time of human gestation.

Early 2020 continued the proliferation of anonymously led social media craziness, outrageous political division and relentless reminders of the coming Olympic Games and the elections. Through it all though, the economy was vibrant, growing, employment was on the rise and almost everyone was prospering as not seen for decades.
