California Governor Jerry Brown admits Trump was right about the cause of the fires;

• https://dcdirtylaundry.com by JD Heyes

In recent days, POTUS Donald Trump was criticized by firefighters, Left-wing Democrats, environmental groups,  and #NeverTrump Republicans for daring to state that the wildfires currently burning up California were largely the fault of poor forest management by the state.

Early on, the president tweeted there was "no reason for these massive deadly and costly forest fires in California except that forest management is so poor. Billions of dollars are given each year, with so many lives lost, all because of gross mismanagement of the forests. Remedy now, or no more Fed payments!"

Later, during a visit to the state, he was asked what effect "climate change" has had on the fires, to which he responded, "Maybe it contributes a little bit. The big problem we have is management. You need management. I'm not saying that in a negative way, a positive I'm just saying the facts," according to The Guardian.

The New York Times, whose writers and editors seem incapable of covering the president in a positive light, declared such comments "misleading" in a "Fact Check" article:

Mr. Trump is suggesting that forest management played a role, but California's current wildfires aren't forest fires. Rather, the Camp and Woolsey fires, which are ripping through Northern and Southern California, began in areas known as the wildland-urban interface: places where communities are close to undeveloped areas, making it easier for fire to move from forests or grasslands into neighborhoods.

Did you catch that bit of genius from NYT fact-checker Kendra Pierre-Lewis? She literally said the fires were not forest fires, then described them as "wildland-urban interface" fires that moved "from forests or grasslands into neighborhoods." Apparently she has no clue that some people build homes in or near forests.
