President Trump refused to take a position on an FBI probe into Christine Ford's sex attack accusation against Brett Kavanaugh on Wednesday

Says it would seem the FBI doesn't want to investigate and he trusts senators to sort it out next week 

They've invited Ford and Kavanaugh to provide testimony on Monday

Ford has not said whether she will show and called yesterday through her attorneys for a full-scale FBI probe 

'If she shows up that would be wonderful,' Trump told reporters as he left for North Carolina. 'If she doesn't show up, that would be unfortunate'

Suggested that he has an open mind: 'If she shows up and makes a credible showing, that'll be very interesting, and we'll have to make a decision'

'But I can only say this: he is such an outstanding man. Very hard for me to imagine that anything happened,' the president added

Said Tuesday that he had not spoken with Kavanaugh about sex assault charge

'I thought it would be a good thing not to, he can handle himself better than anybody,' Trump said in the Oval Office

Also said: 'I don't think the FBI should be involved, because they don't want to be'

FBI had said Monday that its job is vet nominees as national security threats 

Trump later told reporters: 'I feel so badly for him that he's going through this be honest with you. I feel so badly for him. This is not a man that deserves this'
