ABC has released the first photo from its new TV series The Conners, a spinoff of the long-running hit Roseanne.

The photo shows the cast sitting around the Conner family kitchen table from the original series reading scripts for the first episode, notably without matriarch Roseanne Barr, who was booted from the network after posting a racist tweet in May.  

The new series premiering in October will feature almost all of the Roseanne cast, including John Goodman, Sara Gilbert, Jayden Rey, Michael Fishman, Ames McNamara, Laurie Metcalf, Lecy Goranson and Emma Kenney. 

ABC rebooted Roseanne, which first aired from 1988 to 1997, earlier this year, but had to pull the plug after nine episodes after the show's star and created Barr posted a racist tweet about White House staffer Valerie Jarrett.
