This included snow in some of the higher elevations of Montana and Idaho.

While much of the U.S. was baking in heat and humidity, a few spots in the northern Rockies experienced a more winterlike scene Monday, just two days before the Fourth of July holiday.

On July 2, it was cold enough for snow to fall in portions of the higher elevations of western Montana and northern Idaho. The National Weather Service office in Missoula, Montana, noted in its forecast discussion early Monday that a dusting of snow was possible in elevations as low as 7,000 feet.
