The three domains in question are Amazonethereum.com, Amazoncryptocurrency.com, and Amazoncryptocurrencies.com.
According to trade publication DomainNameWire, Amazon registered the three domains on Tuesday.
This isn't Amazon's first cryptocurrency related domain, as the company purchased Amazonbitcoin.com over three years ago. However, the web address just redirects to Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN), at least for now.
Clement Thibault, senior analyst at Investing.com, said in a note that the move didn't come as a surprise. "It's not surprising to see companies protecting their brand names. Amazon already had a cryptocurrency related domain, and it makes sense that they would cover their bases on this front. Amazon isn't expected to allow Bitcoin payments in the near future."
