Speculations have been made that if he continues to speak out against Big Pharma, then it could jeopardize the industry's standing within the American economy, together with commercial markets both with the US and across the world. During a press conference, Trump said, "Our drug industry has been disastrous. They're leaving left and right. They supply our drugs but they don't make them here, to a large extent. And the other thing we have to do is create new bidding procedures for the drug industry because they're getting away with murder. Pharma has a lot of lobbies, a lot of lobbyists, a lot of power." He then went on to explain that "there's very little bidding on drugs. We're the largest buyer of drugs in the world, and yet we don't bid properly. We're going to start bidding. We're going to save billions of dollars over a period of time."

Reports have also claimed that Trump is the first politician in American history who has taken on Big Pharma. He has also proposed that he will lay out beneficial plans to make America much more prosperous and great again, which includes starting by making sure that the American people are healthy, to provide the economy with wealth. Owing to Big Pharma being responsible for the country's opioid and other pharmaceutical addictions, President Trump wants to destroy the industry's influence on America, as well as destroying its ability to profit from it.
