On Thursday night's episode of The Late Show, host Stephen Colbert stepped aside to allow Jon Stewart to relay his thoughts on everything from Fox News to the Republican party's nomination of Donald Trump.

A scruffy-looking Stewart appeared from underneath Colbert's desk, borrowed a clip-on tie, and wasted no time sharing his thoughts on recent political events. Immediately, he referred to Trump as "an angry groundhog" who has divided the country. He also pointed out that the Republicans have spent the past week in Cleveland at the Republican National Convention "scaring the holy bejesus out of everybody."

Regarding Trump's motto of "making American great again," he had this to say:

"You just want that person to give you your country back, because you feel that you are this country's rightful owners. There's only one problem with that: this country isn't yours. You don't own it. It never was. There is no real America. You don't own it. You don't own patriotism, you don't own Christianity, you sure as hell don't own respect for the bravery and sacrifice of military, police and firefighters."

He railed against the Republican party, as well:

"The Republicans appear to have a very clear plan for America. They articulated it throughout the convention. One: jail your political opponent. Two: inject Rudy Giuliani with a speedball and a Red Bull enema. And then three: spend the rest of the time scaring the holy bejesus out of everybody."
