My new book, Bureaucratic Insanity, is about the troubling tendency of American bureaucrats to enforce rules without regard to common sense or basic decency. It seems merciless rule enforcers are everywhere these days: in our schools, our jobs, even at home. It seems they even get joy out of forcing us to comply and submit to their dogmas. This book documents this worsening phenomenon of over zealous rule-enforcers. We also give a brief history of rules and control in western society and concludes with some suggestions for avoiding the system's worst elements.
