You cannot opt out. If you have a former coworker, ex-lover or even a neighbor you pissed off, they now have the ability to publicly trash you. I am sure you will be able to sue, but you have to prove damages and in some states that is nearly impossible.

I see "lovers spats" being played out very publicly, making any chance of reconciliation disappear. I see vindictive people destroying reputations of people who are not internet savvy, don't even know why they are suddenly getting snubbed at the local grocery store.

Emotions are a volatile thing, and if "twitter" taught me anything it was that I do NOT need technology that enables me to speak before I think. I have an ap in my OS that does that task just fine already...

I do see a big winner here - attorneys. This lawsuit happy society will slander each other, then sue each other and the only people who will make any money are the attorneys.

It is just one more step down the path of dehumanizing us. We are already so arrogant that we pass judgement on each other at every turn, and we have become very good at throwing babies out with bath water.
