The Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung, aka International Motor Show, was first held in Berlin in 1897—a display of eight cars—and moved to Frankfurt in 1951. Held every two years, it now draws nearly a million visitors. 2013 saw 159 world premieres in 2013 from more than 1,000 exhibitors, justifying the slogan "The world's most automobile show."

This year's show, which opens to the public Saturday, hasn't disappointed. Lamborghini and Ferrari debuted convertible versions of their latest supercars. Rolls-Royce and Bentley showed off entirely new models. Porsche and Audi gave us concepts that make electric driving more tantalizing than ever.
