This Friday, a meeting was held by the Water Resources Board in order to analyze the current water levels and situation of drought. As a result of this meeting, the State Board passed an order for San Francisco to reduce its right of the river water as the current water levels are not enough and won't be able to fight with the drought. According to the board, the restriction order has been passed for the future accumulation of the water and it won't be applicable to the water accumulated in the past. Currently, San Francisco holds enough water reserves to cover the further two years.

Apart from getting water from the river, San Francisco also depended on the snow that melted from Sierra Nevada. This snow water was used for drinking purposes by the San Francisco after it flowed into Tuolumne River. But now the condition is reaching an alarming point in this situation too and due to after effects of drought, most of the snow has vanished.
