Mary Anne Buttrick passes away

Buttrick, Mary Anne
60, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on January 22, 2013 after a five year battle with cancer. Mary Anne was born April 25, 1952 and raised in Bethesda, Maryland. She moved to Phoenix after receiving her BA degree in English from the University of Maryland in 1975. She later earned her masters degree in Mass Communications from the Cronkite School of Journalism at ASU. While she enjoyed teaching English both in Maryland and at Xavier College Preparatory in Phoenix, her most important vocation was the raising of her sons, Logan and Max, whom she loved immeasurably. Mary Anne will be missed by all who were privileged to know her and who experienced her unique sense of humor, honesty, courage and positive sense of life. She is survived by a wide circle of friends, her husband, John, her mother Madeline Nelson, her three sisters, Sally Joswiak, Jean Nelson and Susan Nelson, and her sons, Logan Elia and Dr. Maxwell Elia. A Celebration of Mary Anne's Life will be held on Sunday February 3rd at 2:30pm at the Tempe Center for the Arts (Lakeside Room), 700 West Rio Salado Parkway, Tempe, Arizona. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley

John - Ernest and I just heard about Mary Anne's passing - we are very sorry for your loss and remember only wonderful, fond memories of Mary Anne, her gentle classy style, and how much she was a part of your life. We will keep you in our thoughts...
